One-hour discussion with Andy, and how he ended up with Yacht Songbird, a 90-foot luxury sailing yacht. Discussion includes systems onboard Songbird. Andy will also be describing upcoming sailing plans for Yacht Songbird and ways you can join for one or more legs of her voyage, including the World ARC Rally, and RYA courses aboard. All levels are welcome.

May 4, 2020 4:00PM GMT — This session will be a good introduction to the marine diesel engine. We will talk about the cooling system, the fuel system, and various problems and solutions.

May 11, 2020 4:00PM GMT — Radar is probably the most versatile of all electronic navigation aids. The best results are only obtained when you know how to use all the functions correctly.

April 13, 2020 4:00PM GMT — During this session, we will talk about interpolating a weather forecast, how to read a synoptic chart, as well as weather fronts. This is a vast subject that can take many years to master. This session is designed to be an introduction.

May 18, 2020 4:00PM GMT — During this session we will talk about passage planning and look into the thought process starting from getting the boat ready to checking the weather before departure. We will also be looking at alternative ports in case we have to change course.

April 9, 2020 4:00PM GMT — This is a basic introduction into chart work and the uses and parts of a chart. We will also cover how to take a true bearing and touch upon other skills that will be included in later lessons.
